K-9 Tunes and Brews

Award-winning microbreweries, live entertainment, food, dog shows, and kid’s activities are just some of the fun-filled events at K9s, Tunes & Brews on Saturday, May 29 from 11 am to 6 pm at Wisp Resort. All proceeds from the event support HART for Animals, and helps raise funds to build an animal adoption center in Garrett County and to support HART’s low-cost spay & neuter clinic.
Enjoy beer tasting from microbreweries, entertainment, frisbee-catching dog demonstrations, a Fun Dog show (bring your dog in costume and try for the longest tail, biggest ears or best trick prizes), and dog obedience demonstrations! The kid’s area features carnival games, a Moon Bounce, face painting, clowns, balloons and more.
Admission is $10 for adults; children 12 & under accompanied by an adult are free. Admission includes a souvenir beer mug (ID will be checked. 21 & over receive wristbands). Tickets for food, beer tasting and kid’s carnival games are $1 each.

Taste of Garrett County

Garrett Trails presents “A Taste of Garrett County” fundraiser at The Lodge at Wisp. There is no easier way to support local business as well as the construction and maintenance of the outstanding network of quality hiking and biking trails in Garrett County. In addition to great food, there will be door prizes and entertainment.Cost of the event is $25 per person and will entitle each guest 10 tickets to “spend” on food at vendors of their choice eat as much as the venders will give out. Cost for children age 12 and under is $15. Additional food tickets will also be available for sale at the event.

Garrett Trails is a nonprofit, volunteer organization dedicated to the development of a well-used network of outstanding quality trails that provide access to Garrett County’s historic, municipal, and environmental treasures which link to trails outside the county. Garrett Trails believes outstanding quality trails are important to the economic development of the county, will attract visitors, and will promote fitness and outdoor enjoyment for county residents.

Long & Foster is not responsible for any damages due to the improper care and upkeep of the magnet on the vehicle.  You should remove magnet weekly and clean the area with soap and water.  The magnet should not be left on vehicle for long periods of time.

Festival of Trees

This festival offers something for everyone.  Exhibits of decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, centerpieces, gingerbread structures, and holiday cakes, crafting workshops, a special day just for kids, live entertainment, and more, all benefiting the Dove Center. The Dove Center began in 1991 to make the public aware of the issue of domestic violence in Garrett County.  Funds raised through the 2008 Festival of Trees will be used to help purchase a larger shelter and counseling facilities. 44th Annual Autumn Glory Festival

Garrett County’s Autumn Glory Festival was named #1 Fall Festival in the World by MSN. The 44th Autumn Glory Festival will be held on October 12 – 16, 2011. This five-day event features parades, music, crafts and so much more. Throughout the weekend, along with hundreds of other local events and activities, highlights include Thursday’s Fireman’s Parade in downtown Oakland – some of these fire trucks travel over 200 miles to participate, Friday’s official Maryland State Banjo Championship, and Saturday’s Autumn Glory Grand Feature Parade of over 100 units featuring bands, marching units, unique floats, and much more. Deep Creek Lake Art & Wine Festival

The seventh annual Deep Creek Lake Art & Wine Festival weekend, September 9-11, 2011, benefiting the American Red Cross, Western Potomac Chapter, features wine pairing dinners, beautifully handcrafted works by local and regional artisans, wine tasting from over 200 Maryland and national wineries, live music, children’s activities, brunches, lodging packages, and more.

The Art & Wine Festival begins Friday night, September 9 with area restaurants offering special pre-fix wine pairing dinners, teaming up with national wineries to pair pre-selected wines with specially prepared dinner courses.

The weekend continues on Saturday, September 10, from noon until 6:00 PM at the Garrett County Fairgrounds in McHenry, Maryland. Over thirty professional artisans and craftsmen will display and sell their art, from handcrafted jewelry and wood carvings to oil paintings, and hand painted furniture and accessories. Local, regional and national wineries will offer samplings of a variety of over 200 wines to satisfy even the most discriminating tastes. Guests may purchase the wines at the festival’s retail store (open until 7 PM), with net proceeds donated to the American Red Cross. Kids too will enjoy the festival with activities just for them including face painting, balloon art, carriage rides, moon bounce, and more.

Rounding out the afternoon is live entertainment by local and regional musicians and a silent auction that features donated wines, wine accessories, art and children’s gifts. Live entertainment includes music by Jimmy Flanigan, Dmitry Kubin, Brother Short, and The Remedy.

On September 11, Sunday brunch will be offered at participating restaurants.

Tickets for Saturday’s festival are $25 for adults, 21 and over and include entry fee, wine tastings and a commemorative wine glass. Admittance only is $5 and children five and under are free. Advance tickets are available for sale online at official website, and at the festival.

Art & Wine Festival lodging packages are available at Long & Foster Resort Rentals.
