6th Annual Wisp Ski Patrol Golf Tournament - June 18,  2011

Its Almost Time For Golf !

7 AM Check In and 9 AM shotgun start

  • Cash prizes will be  awarded for first and second place.
  • Raffle drawings will give away winter and golf prizes.
  • Area merchants donate many raffle prizes to be given away.
  • Golf courses from Western Maryland to Baltimore donate 18 holes for 4.
  • Frosty beverages will be provided for persons 21 and over.  No Underage consumption!
  • Four man scramble format.
  • After golf BBQ Dinner included.
  • Cost of Golf is $80.00 per golfer.
  • Company Hole Sponsor fees are $150.00 to promote your business.
  • Hole Sponsorship recognition with a laminated sign including your company or personal logo.
  • You or your Company is included on a large laminated sign sponsor list.
  • Kicker prizes for Longest Drive Men and Women, Longest Second Shot, Longest Putt, Closest to the Pin.

Western Maryland Tennis Championships

On behalf of the members of The Mountain Lake Park Tennis Club, I invite you to join us for the 90th Annual Western Maryland Championships. Our red clay courts are over a century old and are kept in excellent condition. The Western Maryland Championships is the oldest sanctioned tournament in the state. We encourage players of all abilities to participate. With 17 divisions as well as players who range from nationally ranked to family members who play for fun, you are sure to find your match in our tournament

 

This USTA sanctioned tennis tournament, its 90thanniversary, provides excellent competition on the red clay courts at Mtn. Lake Park.

Herrington Manor Lake Fishing Rodeo

The Fishing Rodeo will be held at the Herrington Manor Lake from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Ages 16 and under may register at the Lake House and participate in this FREE event.  The Rodeo is held on one of Maryland’s Free Fishing Days so parents can join in on the fun too.  There is no service charge at the park entrance on this day.  Trophies will be awarded to the various age groups for the largest fish caught.  Door prizes and refreshments will also be part of the Rodeo festival.

New Germany Fishing Rodeo

Youth ages 4 – 15 are invited to participate in the annual Fishing Rodeo at New Germany State Park.  Participants must be accompanied by an adult.  Adults are not allowed to catch fish during the competition, but limited adult assistance is permitted with children ages 6 and under.

Will be held 5/21/2011 at 9:00 am Harrington Manor State Park, Oakland, Maryland.  Registration will open at 8:00 am on the 21st.  Pre-register and select the type of t-shirt you will receive.

Course: The 6,000 Meter (Approximately 3.75 miles) run features a looped course over established and maintained hiking/XC ski trails beginning and ending at Herrington Manor State Park.

Awards: Grand Prize ($50) to first male and female runner.
Non-cash awards will be given to the top two male and female runners, in each age group: 15 & under; 16–19; 20–29; 30–39; 40–49; 50–59; 60 & over.
The top two male and female walkers will also receive awards. No duplication of awards.

Registration: All preregistered participants will receive their choice of a race T-shirt. $15 cotton; $20 wicking. Cotton T-shirts will be provided for race day registration while the supply lasts ($2.00 extra for XXL). $20.00 late registration after May 7th and day of race – remember, cotton t-shirts only if not pre-registered!  Registration will open at 8:00 am the day of the race.

Little Yough Summer Music Festival 11 Friday Evening Concerts

The Little Yough Summer Music Festival will celebrate its 15th anniversary season in 2011. The popular concert series was begun in 1996 by Ken Perrin, and continues to showcase singer/songwriters, and area, regional and national talent. Garrett County residents, neighbors and visitors are entertained by a variety of musical styles under warm summer skies.

The festival is organized and managed by volunteers through the Little Yough Summer Music Festival Committee.

K-9 Tunes and Brews

Award-winning microbreweries, live entertainment, food, dog shows, and kid’s activities are just some of the fun-filled events at K9s, Tunes & Brews on Saturday, May 29 from 11 am to 6 pm at Wisp Resort. All proceeds from the event support HART for Animals, and helps raise funds to build an animal adoption center in Garrett County and to support HART’s low-cost spay & neuter clinic.
Enjoy beer tasting from microbreweries, entertainment, frisbee-catching dog demonstrations, a Fun Dog show (bring your dog in costume and try for the longest tail, biggest ears or best trick prizes), and dog obedience demonstrations! The kid’s area features carnival games, a Moon Bounce, face painting, clowns, balloons and more.
Admission is $10 for adults; children 12 & under accompanied by an adult are free. Admission includes a souvenir beer mug (ID will be checked. 21 & over receive wristbands). Tickets for food, beer tasting and kid’s carnival games are $1 each.
