| Deep
Creek Lake Area Kayaking and Canoeing |
Note:
Paddling and River Running requires a reasonable level of
experience.
Be sure you know what you are doing and what to expect before
going paddling, or take a guided instructional tour or lesson.

The
Deep Creek Lake area is one of the regions hot spots
for kayaking. On Deep Creek Lake and other area lakes
you'll find some of the most beautiful falt water kayaking.
On our rivers you'll find paddling from mild to wild,
and some of the most extreme whitewater kayaking on
the world famous Upper Yough.
Canoeing
can take place on many of our lakes and waterways. One
of the best canoe runs is the stretch of the Youghiogheny
from Hoyes Run to the Sang Run Bridge. Be sure to take
out on the right above the Sang Run Bridge (next section
is Class V!). Canoeing on Deep Creek Lake is best done
during early morning hours to avoid the boat wakes and
enjoy the wildlife and quiet solitude.

Deep
Creek Lake is the perfect place to base your exploration of
the whitewater rivers in our area. Whitewater river running
has inherent risks and dangers and should not be attempted by
folks with inadequate training, experience, knowledge of local
water conditions, and proper equipment.
We
are not providing much information because we don't want folks
to get in over their heads. Folks with experience can surf the
AWA website link below for local river information including
access points, river gauges, and river difficulty and descriptions.
