Whisper Me Timbers is a very good rental vacation house for our stay Jan 3 to Jan 5, 2014 for our ski trip of 12 adults. Overall, I'd recommend this rental and would rent again. Generally, the house is clean prior to our moving in. It houses 5 bed rooms: 4 rooms with King size beds and one with trundle and one queen-sized sofa bed at the lower level. For 12 of us, it was comfortable to sleep in, especially with the King beds. The location of the house is less than half a mile from the ski equipment rental office so it is within the walking distance if we decide to walk to the resort. Actually, some of us did walk back during lunch time. The fireplaces were wonderful to have during the winter time. The fireplace at the main level did not work on the first night; however, they came to fix it and we had both fireplaces working the second night. The representatives at the Long and Forster were very helpful and friendly during the entire rental process. Thank you all for such a pleasant vacation at the Wisp resort.
Glad you had a good time! Thank you for the review! Come see us again!
Huge home all around with 6 bedrooms, 4 gas fireplaces, lakefront view screened porch off large deck, big fully stocked kitchen, top of the line pool table and air hockey, hot tub, private dock and the list goes on. High end furnishings all the way around. Walking distance to Wisp resort for off season zip lining, mountain sled rides, kids playground, mountain biking, lift rides and more. Directly across the lake from 2 Marinas for boat rentals. All restaurants, evening entertainment, grocery store and more are nearby, but since road does not connect to 213 there is little road traffic for a peaceful stay. Abundance of parking on impressive all stone driveway. I parked my trailer on the driveway and still had room for 4 cars comfortably without any jockeying. Be aware this is a duplex, connected to an even larger "sister home" with even more parking! I had no problems with the arrangement but it may not be for everyone. We called in and observed some needed upkeep that needs attention - upon arrival only 1 of 4 fireplaces were operable. Got. 2nd repaired and working but for the price and class of this home all advertised amenities should be in working order. Also had an annoying toilet paper holder not anchored properly so it fell out of the wall. Outdoor floodlights were both burned out and some missing bulbs all together. There was no picnic table lakeside like attached home had which was disappointing for crab eating. Had small fire pit which was not advertised and a nice surprise that allowed a nighttime around a camp fire for the whole family and guests. There was also a tree down on the edge of the property right on the lake that should be removed. Mostly minor annoyances as you can see. Overall, a great rental, peaceful and convenient location. It was more house than I really needed so will likely rent smaller home next time for. Lower price, but it was impressive and enjoyable. Nicest home I've rented on the lake front so far!!
Nice unit. But there was a water leak through the ceing light on the basement bedroom to the left which I reported to you upon leaving.
First, fire your photographer. The pictures didn't do the house justice. It is so much bigger and prettier than it looked on the website. There were a bunch of little things that were annoying - a few lights not working, doors sticking, internet out, gas grill not working. Overall the house was fantastic, though. It was so beautiful and comfortable. It was really well decorated - even the daybed in the den was gorgeous. The descriptions don't really capture how nice the fireplaces were or how it seemed like there was one almost anywhere you went. Also the kitchen was well-stocked, we had all the tools we needed. We also enjoyed the screened-in porch, which I didn't realize was part of the amenities. No complaints whatsoever about the hot tub! Finally, the location was great - very central and easy to find, but it didn't feel like a crowded or busy area. My group had a wonderful time and would definitely stay again!
Thank you for your review. The home is incredible! We apologize for the little hiccups in your stay, but so glad you had a wonderful time. The inspector is checking to make sure all of the lights are working and if some are out they will certainly be replaced. Also the gas grill and internet are now both working fine. We hope to see you back at the lake soon.
This house is great!!! It's practically brand new. I have no idea when it was actually built or renovated, but it is not dated at all. All of the furniture and fixtures are like new and everything is quality. There were flat screen tvs in every room, digital cable box, and everything was functional. The house is also much more spacious than the ad even made it out to be. The rooms are a good size and the common areas are spacious. The bathrooms are great. As far as the kitchen goes, dishes etc. are fine, but bring a good skillet and knife set with you if you're planning to do some decent cooking. Otherwise, you'll find basically everything you need in the kitchen. The lake view is gorgeous. The ad didn't mention it, but there is in fact a fire pit lakeside, so if you're visiting before or after snow season, definitely be sure to pick up a bunch of would in town because it's really nice to sit out there at night with the hot fire roaring. The house is also super close to everything in town (restaurants and stores are literally just 5 minutes away). I've stayed in other vacation rental homes before as well as all those in the group of friends I traveled with, and this house was so much nicer than the norm.
We loved Whisper Me Timbers! The layout was excellent for the three families that shared the house. There was lots of space for all of us. We spent a great deal of time on the decks and in the hot tub. Of course, being right on the lake was a huge plus, too. The house was very clean. We would definitely rent this house again in the future.
We have been vacationing with our extended family since 2000. Have never repeated any destinations and have been to islands, national parks, ocean and lakes.. This was great. Our one family member is battling cancer this year and we all needed a relaxing place to enjoy and yet keep five teenagers busy... Deep Creek filled our wishes...
We stayed at this duplex for 4 nights. We did not know the unit was a duplex until we pulled in right off of the road. The description did not disclose this important fact. Important, because we are non smokers and the renters beside us were smokers. Important because there is less privacy in a duplex. (hot tub anyone??) The unit was very nicely furnished with comfortable beds and sofas. Beautiful. We could not figure out how to use 3 of 4 fireplaces, and the air hockey table is not working..so that should not be in the description either. The unit is right against a busy road, and steps away from the lake. So if you are looking for country setting, this is not it. No trees to enjoy etc. The heat did not work 2 of 4 nights, so repair man had to come out twice to get it working. He did. But an inconvenience, we had an infant with us. They need to replace the pans and utensils to cook with to make this a 5 star unit. Bring what you need to cook with. flimsy plastic ware that needs to be thrown away. Long and Foster were efficient, and polite. Would stay here again if not so close to the road and not a duplex. Prefer more privacy.
Loved the decor of the home; very comfortable for large-extended family. A few suggestions: comforters too heavy (fealt like lying under lead blanket for X-ray)! Beautiful duvets, but inserts need to be lighter weight. Pillows too large and give stiff necks (had to use throw pillows from couch). Basement master bath could use some way to store soap/shampoo off the floor. Othere than that, we found the home to be beautiful, comfortable and very accommodating for our extended family. Nice location on the lake & convenient to many local attractions.
This was a great house with a great layout for a family that included teenagers and a baby! We loved the location - very close to Wisp, shopping, restaurants, marinas and the fireworks were literally right over the house! We would definitely come back again!
We enjoyed the house very much. This is our 2nd year staying here and we have already reserved for next year for the same week. My family consists of me, my wife an 4 children, a boy 16 , a girl 13, a girl 4 and a boy 2. Just a very nice place to stay with children
This rental met our expectations in every way but one. We were unaware it is a duplex, not a single family home. We spent the weekend with old friends and the house is wonderful, but we also had twelve or more college students next door. It should come as no surprise that this made sleeping and enjoying the deck almost impossible.
We checked in at Long and Foster with no problems and full explanation of procedures. We had rented this home last year and liked it well enough to return this year. It is located directly across from the WISP ski resort and the best part of that is the fireworks on New Years Eve. We watch them from our front porch. We did alot of cooking and there were utensils we needed that were not there. We would bring more of our own next time. We loved the fireplaces and the pool table. We also used the hot tub several times. That is a nice extra to have. All the furniture is comfortable - including the beds. This house is just right for our family of 6 adults and 2 children.
the home and its location - lake on one side and Wisp Resort on the other. who could ask for more? new home that was very comfortable. items worth noting however - there were TONS of lights burned out all over the house - we bought a pack of four regular bulbs and moved others around to the areas of the home where we would be the most. when you pay that much for a vacation rental I think better quality control should have been done prior to our arrival to ensure everything was working. we looked everywhere for bulbs in the closets but there were none to be found. the kitchen could also contain more cookware and misc routine kitchen utensils. the sheets in one of the upstairs bedrooms werent changed - I noticed hair at the bottom of the bed in between the sheets. but overall the place was absolutely divine. we so loved it. enjoyed the snow on 11/27!!!
The house was very nice & the dock & location -perfect. However, I was told check in was 3 p.m & so were others checking in on that day so dragging my boat around until check in was a disaster. The office staff did not give out good information on where to launch my boat or about parking my boat trailer, ended up costing us 41/2 hours of confusion & driving from one location to another and another $150 in parking fees at another location. Surely as a rental agency of your size you could work out a better solution for your customers bringing their boats. I would have preferred to pay you any extra fee to arrange it instead of paying at 3 different locations.
The home is beautifully decorated and extremely spacious. The property sits on a very convenient spot on Deep Creek Lake, but still offers privacy.
The place was very nice, we enjoyed it. The only thing I would recommend would be a little better explanation on the sleeping arrangements on the website. We were under the impression we would have 6 beds, and there were only 5. Also, I would suggest a bonfire pit in the back yard. It was really not a big deal for either of the suggestions above we really enjoyed the stay. Thank you,

Have you ever waited until the last minute to make vacation accommodation plans? Did your vacation opportunity just become available and you want to see what the current deals are? This is a courtesy feature for you to use to bid on available vacation rentals.
Bidding is only allowed for online customers. Do not call about the bidding process-email only, however you can call our office to see what current discounts are being offered. The discounts will be similar to what an accepted bid is expected to be. The bidding form is not to get a lower discount than what is offered through our office, but a convenient tool to use so you do not have to call in. Remember, not all homes will accept a bid, and sometimes, the discounts that Long and Foster offers will be more or exactly the same as what a homeowner might accept.
If you are within 5 days...make us a reasonable offer.
Please be courteous and only submit serious bids. Ensure that you read and follow the Last Minute Bidding Rules below, or your bid will be deleted and not considered.
Bidding Process and Policies
- Review the properties using our reservation availability search to the left. Each property listing will have a “Last Minute Bid” Tab on the property page and this is what you will need to complete to be considered for that specific home. Find the home you really want before you make a bid.
- Complete the form fully and honestly, and submit your bid. If not completed, it will not be accepted.
- Only submit a reasonable bid. A ridiculously low offer will not be considered and will be deleted immediately. Examples of considered bids will be 10% Off the advertised rate. 3 Nights for the rate of only 2. 15% off a 3 night stay, $150 off the advertised rate…for example. Be smart, you know what a too low bid would be.
- Our Long & Foster Rental Staff will contact the property owner to determine if your offer is acceptable or if a counter offer shall be made by the owner, then we will contact you immediately with the result. If the bid is thrown out due to a low offer, you will not get a follow up.
- When your bid is accepted, you will be required to pay for the lodging in full via credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover) and execute our standard lodging agreement within the next 90 minutes. Failure to do so will void your accepted bid, and we will not resubmit for approval. Remember, if someone books before you confirm it, your offer is also VOID.
- Your right to the vacation property cannot be assigned or re-sold. Please carefully review our occupancy guidelines as this is your responsibility.
- Our standard processing fee, Accidental Damage Waiver Fee and taxes will be added to the agreed upon bid submitted below. No exceptions.
- A non-response after 24 hours shall deem the bid to have been unacceptable to the property owner, or thrown out due to an unrealistic offer, so please continue looking for a rental.
- We will only accept the first bid submitted in a given day per person/email address, so only 1 BID ALLOWED. If you bid on multiple homes, all bids will be thrown out. If your first bid is accepted, you will not be permitted to make additional bids unless you are looking at booking multiple homes or a different date.
- Please remember bidding is only allowed on properties within 5 days of arrival and only allowed for one home at a time. Bids that are outside of that 5 day window will be ignored and deleted, as will unrealistic bids.
- Please review the policies and procedures put forth by Long and Foster Resort Rentals and do not make a bid unless you agree to all terms.
